DR HUMPHREY RAINEY
'Humph' commenced work in General Practice in Upper Hutt in the mid 1950s. He started one of the first custom-designed group Practice buildings in New Zealand – Trinity House. At the same time, ‘Humph’ was working as a part-time anaesthetist from 1953 to 1990.
Another of 'Humph's' many achievements saw him start the Hutt Valley Registrar training scheme with Dr Peter Anyon in 1973. ‘Humph’ has been with Ropata since 1990.
"My life is best summed up by a colleague who kindly called me a remarkable fellow, unlike most medicos who manage to do one job badly, I managed to do many – all badly!"
"I've been involved in horticulture, silviculture, rugby refereeing, serving on the Boards of the Medical Assurance Society and Care NZ, and as a Trustee of Orongomai Marae in Upper Hutt."
Humphrey can be seen consulting at Ropata Medical Centre as a weekend Associate – mainly on Sundays.
